Why is construction safety so important for personalHOME?

seguridad-construccion

The construction sector is a fundamental economic pillar worldwide, but also one of the most dangerous due to risks derived from working at heights, the handling of vehicles and heavy machinery and/or the use of hazardous materials.

At personalHOME we are committed to safety in all our construction works not only from a legal perspective, but we also invest in comprehensive safety plans to protect our team, increase the efficiency of the processes and guarantee the quality of our projects.

Risks and preventive measures

Within the multiple actions that occur in the day-to-day work on a construction site, different risks can be identified for which we implement a series of preventive measures to help avoid these risks:

1. Falls from height: these are the main cause of fatal accidents in construction. Working at different heights, in excavations or in areas that are difficult to access increases this type of risk.

            · Preventive measures: use of collective protection systems (scaffolding, lifelines), appropriate safety footwear, plan for detailed signposting of dangerous areas, etc.

2. Electrocutions: these occur mostly due to contact with wires, defective electrical equipment or high-voltage lines.

            · Preventive measures: periodic checking of electrical installations, use of appropriate work clothes, handling of insulated tools and signposting of risk areas.

3. Knocks and traps: heavy objects are constantly being moved on construction sites, heavy machinery and/or dangerous tools are being handled. This can lead to life-threatening knocks and traps for workers.

            · Preventive measures: the main preventive methods to avoid dangerous knocks and traps are the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), maintenance of site machinery and good signposting of risk areas.

4. Contact with hazardous substances: within construction materials there are substances that can be harmful to workers, such as lead, asbestos, silica, fibreglass, cadmium…..

            · Preventive measures: to reduce this risk it is advisable to use respiratory protection equipment, adequate ventilation and good control of the material used in each project.

5. Fire and explosions: can be caused by inadequate handling of flammable material and/or defective electrical equipment.

            · Preventive measures: the implementation of adequate alarm and extinguishing systems is the main preventive measure for this type of risk.

What prevention plans do we follow at personalHOME?

These safety measures cannot fall on deaf ears and at personalHOME we have established strict safety and prevention plans that are continuously monitored and reviewed and that are implemented vertically in the company’s organisation chart:

· Health and Safety Plan: we draw up detailed plans that include the identification of risks, evaluation and control of these in each of the sections of the company.

· Personal protective equipment (PPE): we periodically check helmets, gloves, safety harnesses and specialised footwear to protect workers.

· Training and education: it is essential that our workers receive regular training on safety protocols, the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and best practices to prevent accidents.

· Regular inspections: we constantly monitor to enable us to identify potential hazards and correct them before accidents occur. Inspections are carried out by our qualified personnel and follow an established protocol.

· Equipment maintenance: we ensure that all machinery and tools are always in good condition and replace defective equipment on a daily basis.

· Hazardous area marking and delineation: we carry out stringent plans for marking high-risk areas.

· Constant communication: we establish a system of constant communication between all spheres of the company, from management to operators. personalHOME belongs to the Renovak Building Company Group, a holding company made up of companies specialising in real estate, construction and architecture. Its two construction companies, RK Construcción and SK Rehabilitación are audited by AENOR to obtain the ISO UNE – EN 9001 quality certificate. In addition, RK is registered as a company classified by the state to carry out public works by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, both circumstances that accredit the quality and good workmanship of its construction works.
